Match Report: AS Roma V Milan- 2nd November 2025

AS Roma 0-1 Milan
Roma travelled to San Siro with the chance to go top of Serie A on their own, and for large stretches of the match the Giallorossi played like a team ready to take that step. Milan might have taken the points, but there was no doubt who dictated much of the football.
Right from the start, Roma showed intent. Bryan Cristante—again playing a touch higher—pounced on a sloppy Maignan clearance and almost put us ahead within two minutes. Roma pressed with confidence, snapping into every loose ball. Ndicka’s header from Soulé’s delivery drifted just wide, and Paulo Dybala had a couple of promising looks. Wesley kept Maignan busy too.
Roma were in control, playing the better football, but chances slipped by and football has a cruel sense of humour: one counter-attack, and Milan got the kind of goal teams score when they’ve been surviving, not dominating. Saelemaekers launched the break, Leao sprinted down the wing, and the tap-in for Pavlovic was the sort of goal that stings precisely because Roma had been so superior.
Mile Svilar was outstanding all night. Even when Milan threatened—Nkunku forcing a tricky save, Leao popping up point-blank—our keeper stood tall. A goal-line clearance from Hermoso kept hopes alive, and the woodwork even did its bit when Nkunku accidentally hit the post from a corner.
Roma kept pushing and eventually got what we deserved: a penalty, after Pellegrini’s free kick struck Fofana’s raised arm in the wall. Dybala stepped up… and Maignan delayed, delayed, delayed before finally getting on his line. It was enough to break the rhythm, and the keeper guessed right. To make the moment even more gutting, La Joya felt a twinge in his thigh and signalled straight away that he needed to come off.
Roma didn’t stop believing, and the pressure never dipped. But tonight the ball just refused to reward the team that actually played football.
Milan caught us in the table; they’ll talk about points, but anyone who watched saw the difference in courage and ambition. Roma created more, fought more, and looked every bit like a team chasing the top of Serie A—not clinging to it.
Heads high.
Performances like this bring points over the season. And when we’re back at the Olimpico … someone’s going to pay for tonight.
Forza Roma. 🟡🔴
