Roma Club Bristol meet Edoardo Bove
On 28 February 2026 by Gillyowl
Roma Club Bristol — about 50 proud AS Roma fans who gather at the Ye Shakespeare to live every kick together. So when Edoardo Bove suffered a cardiac arrest in December 2024 and later had a pacemaker fitted, we didn’t just watch the news — we lived every update. We hoped the Italian authorities would let him return. When that door closed and he signed for Watford FC on 21 January 2026, we knew what we had to do: go see our boy play.
On 27 February 2026, we made the trip to Ashton Gate. The welcome from both Bristol City and Watford fans was pure class — curiosity, warmth, a few smiles at the sight of Roma shirts in the crowd. The football itself? Fierce. More contact than we’re used to in Serie A — every challenge felt personal.
Watford struck early through Mads Kjerrumgaard, City hit back before half-time via Scott Twine, and then Jeremy Ngakia lit up the night with a rocket into the top corner to make it 2–1. But the score almost didn’t matter to us.
Our moment came in the 80th minute when Bove stepped onto the pitch. We roared. When he was knocked down moments later, hearts stopped — then he bounced back up, fearless as ever. After the final whistle, he came over, signed our shirt and our flag, and gave us a memory we’ll never forget. Three points for Watford — and a perfect night for a group of Roma fans who just wanted to see one of their own shine again.
