Match Report: Rangers V AS Roma – 6th November 2025
On 10 November 2025 by Gillyowl
Rangers 0 – 2 AS Roma
Roma travelled to a packed Ibrox under pressure, needing a statement performance in Europe—and they delivered it with style. From the first whistle, the Giallorossi looked calm, organised, and completely in control.
Within minutes, Roma showed Rangers exactly what a European night looks like. A beautifully worked corner routine saw Pellegrini whip the ball in, Cristante rise like a general directing traffic, and Matias Soulé nod in his first ever European goal at the back post. Cool, composed, clinical.
Roma didn’t drop off for a second. Pellegrini then doubled the lead with that trademark captain’s conviction—Roma smelled vulnerability and pressed the advantage. Rangers, who had lost all their Europa League matches so far, were chasing shadows for most of the first half.
Their one real moment came late in the half: a scramble in the box where Svilar stretched out a glove and Mancini slid in to finish the job. True Romanista defending—one saves it, the other clears it, end of story.
Soulé remained electric, drifting through Rangers’ midfield like he owned the place. He went inches wide on the break after a Dovbyk lay-off, showing he’s becoming the heartbeat of Roma’s attack.
After the restart, Rangers tried to build momentum, but Hermoso and Svilar shut the door every time. Roma stayed patient, stayed comfortable, and waited for the chance to wrap things up.
That moment should have been the third goal: a wild goalmouth scramble saw the ball bounce to Çelik right on the line. His shot hit the underside of the bar and somehow stayed out, defying both gravity and logic. The only thing missing from this performance was a third goal for the highlight reel.
In the end, Roma didn’t just win—they controlled the match from start to finish, played mature European football, and reminded the competition that this team isn’t going anywhere.
Comfortable. Confident. Professional.
Job done.
Forza Roma. 🟡🔴
Roma Club Bristol were amongst the travelling fans. What didn’t come across on the TV was how all of the Giallorossi sang their hearts out for the entire game.
