Match Report: AS Roma V Udinese – 9th November 2025

On 10 November 2025 by Gillyowl

AS Roma 2-0 Udinese

Roma marched to the top of the Serie A table with a confident win over Udinese, powered by captain Lorenzo Pellegrini’s cool penalty and a stylish finish from Zeki Çelik. Even with injuries piling up, the Giallorossi showed the character of a team that fully intends to stay at the summit.

After last week’s frustrating defeat to Milan—where Dybala’s missed penalty doubled as the moment he picked up a thigh injury—Roma arrived at the Olimpico with something to prove. Dybala joined Bailey, Ferguson, and Angelino on the injury list, meaning De Rossi had very few options to rotate after the midweek European win in Glasgow.

Udinese, meanwhile, faced a noisy Olimpico and were welcomed by a chilly reception for former Roma man Nicolò Zaniolo.

Roma came out hungry. Manu Koné twice nearly buried loose balls in the box, and both Çelik and Pellegrini sent dangerous headers just wide from gorgeous Soulé and Wesley deliveries. Bryan Cristante then rattled the outside of the post with a deflected low drive—Roma were knocking loudly.

Udinese tried to hit on the counter, but every threat felt like a reminder of how aggressively Roma were controlling the match. When Kamara blasted a long-range effort, Mile Svilar reacted with the kind of save that keeps stadiums breathing easier.

Moments later, Roma’s pressure finally paid off. Mancini whipped in a cross, Udinese defender Kamara panicked and handled it, and VAR caught what everyone in the Curva Sud already saw.
Pellegrini stepped up. The captain delivered. 1–0, Roma.

Unfortunately, Artem Dovbyk picked up a knock and had to be subbed off—because the football gods apparently believe Roma must win and battle adversity at the same time.

But Roma didn’t let up. The second goal arrived through a move that summed up the team’s spirit: Çelik sprinting forward, combining beautifully with Mancini, then sweeping the ball in with total composure. A full-back finishing like a striker? That’s how a team at the top behaves.

Udinese tried to spoil the party late on—Zaniolo sniffed around for a storyline, but Svilar flew off his line to shut him down one-on-one, and later tipped a header around the post. Even when a deflected shot hit the upright in stoppage time, Roma stood strong.

Whistle.
Three points.
Top of the table.

Despite missing key players, Roma look focused, united, and dangerous. If this is how they perform with half the squad taped together… imagine what happens when everyone’s back.

By the end of the day Inter Milan had thrashed Lazio and took the top of the table, level with Roma on points, but ahead on goal difference.

Forza Roma. 🟡🔴
